Test yourself: identify the vessel by its lights

In real conditions you never get a caption — just lights on a dark horizon. This quiz shows an unlabelled 3D vessel with its COLREG lights and asks which vessel it is: sailing or power-driven, towing or trawling, restricted in her ability to manoeuvre or not under command, anchored or aground.

Each round draws from the light and shape variants of Rules 23–30, shown from a random aspect, so you cannot memorise a fixed sequence. After every answer you get an instant debrief: which lights were shown, which were hidden by the aspect, and a reference view to study.
